Blackstrap Molasses is high in calcium, magnesium, iron and potassium. It also contains sulfur and a host of micro nutrients, carbohydrates and trace minerals from the original cane material. Using molasses as fertilizer provides plants with a quick source of energy and encourages the growth of beneficial microorganisms. Molasses also works as a chelating agent to convert the soil’s tied-up nutrients into a form that’s easily available to plants. Chelated minerals can be absorbed directly and remain available and stable in the soil. Be aware that when adding molasses to your solutions, because of its biologically activating properties, it can cause certain components in your spray solutions to “grow”. It is therefore not wise to leave a solution containing molasses for more than 8 hours.
The most important factor in maintaining the health and vitality of your cannabis plants is the quality of your soil. Good soil should contain (amongst many other compounds) important nutrients such as micro- and macro-elements, and vitamins that are essential for maintaining the health of your cannabis plants.
Furthermore, good soil also contains living microbes, or micro-organisms. Introducing un-sulphured blackstrap molasses into your soil ensures not only the maintenance of nutrients in your soil, but also ensures that these micro-organisms are being fed, facilitating the ideal environment for these microbes to flourish.
